Fundraiser for Emily Stephenson
There are many times a swing dancer might have an accident or get injured and the world works the way it should and they get healed and are back on their feet with only a small dent in the pocket book.
Occasionally, though, life just completely sucks and just keeps kicking even when you’re down. For instance, Huntsville, Alabama, dancer Emily Stephenson was standing by her car when she was hit by a truck that had lost control. Among the many injuries she suffered, the doctors had to amputate her leg. Furthermore, the driver of the Truck’s insurance is not going to pay fully for her recovery.
To find out how you can help Emily, check out the donation campaign the Huntsville scene has set up for her recovery.
Emily, we wish you the best and hope to see you on the dance floor as soon as possible!
Bobby – thank you SO MUCH for highlighting Emily and her story here in Huntsville, AL. I continue to be amazed at how compassionate and responsive the swing/lindy community is towards a fellow dancer, and it makes me so proud to be a part of such a caring group of dancers as we all move through life together….thank you again Bobby for using your voice and platform at Swungover to help Emily….
Thank you so much for sharing my story! I wasn’t even walking, actually, I was standing next to my parked car, and the car was even totaled! It was a crazy day, but I’m happy to be alive and thankful for the support I’m receiving from my swing community. I’ll see y’all on the dance floor again one day!
My apologies, updated! And all the best on your speedy recovery!
